Should I re-skin my old roller blinds or should I purchase new roller blinds?
Do you have single roller or double day/night roller blinds that require updating? We regularly have enquiries asking if we can change fabrics on older roller blinds, in houses, apartments and offices. If your roller blinds hardware is still in good condition, it could be worth re-skinning.
Some of the benefits of changing fabrics and base rails are, less landfill, considerable cost savings, compared to purchasing new roller blinds, simple to take down and then re install by yourself. No hassles with finding new solid fixings, no install charges.
Often when you live in new apartments in the summer months sunscreen blinds may let too much light and heat in. By simply changing fabrics to blockout, this can resolve some your problems. It is important to check with your building manager to see if there is any building requirements prior to changing roller blind fabrics. Also, with apartments it is often hard to locate fixings methods, as construction methods can be different in each building. When you purchase a new home, the previous owners decorated to their requirements, if you change the wall colour the existing fabric may clash with your new selections. This is the perfect scenario to look at updating your old roller blind fabrics. Same goes for if you are renovating a bedroom, bathroom, Kitchen, or lounge room.
Important things to look for when deciding if re-skinning your old roller blinds is right for you? Is my old blind operational and do I think it will last another 5 years? Is the old roller blinds tube size over 50mm diameter for 2099mm length? Are the gaps on side-by-side blinds acceptable?. All re-skins will be made square, is my older window out of square? Will a re-skin work with my older window? has my older roller blind been installed well and hassle free? Can I live with my roller blinds off my windows for 3-5 weeks while my older roller blinds are being re-skinned?By working through these questions, you can save up to 50% on brand new roller blinds. While you wait for your blinds to be re-skined order our Temporary Blinds.
