How to Measure Outdoor Automatic Awning

Important steps to follow when measuring Automatic Awnings.

Print Blinds Downunder measuring form or download Blinds Downunder measuring form for computer or device, from our website. Document blind measurements and details. Ignore the Front Roll option for this blind.

Automatic Awnings work well as face fit blinds, document in notes if you are looking to recess fit. Note; the headbox and guide rails require solid fixings, Guide rails are generally around 30-35mm in from edge of hood. Which makes face fit generally a better option.

For Face Fit Automatic Awnings document the actual window measurement. check three spots measurements for width and drop. You will need to add minimum 250mm on the horizontal measurement (line a) for weatherboard construction and around 350mm for Brick Veneer construction. You will need to add 200mm minimum, to the vertical measurement (line b) for hood box and any allowance you would like blind to go past the window. We recommend to add 200mm below the window, meaning the total extra drop is 400mm overall. The valance is included in your overall drop measurement. Each individual scenario will need to be assessed prior to placing order.

Each individual scenario will need to be assessed prior to placing you order.Ensure the head box/awning does not obstruct with awning window

Always double check measurements with the measurements you have written down.

Watch for protruding objects that might interfere with blind operation. The Automatic Awning Arms can be selected in 150mm,300mm,450mm. The 300mm Auto Arm is the one we prefer to use with most awning windows and 150mm Auto Arm for sliding windows. Take into consideration driveways, paths, downpipes when ordering your preferred arm length.

You will also need to determine your required pull stick length, based on the in centre of Automatic awning and comfortable reach height. Allow for two hands spread apart, with the bottom hand confirming where to start the lower measurement from to the top height of the awning. You will also require space between your bottom hand and ground to operate you pull stick.
